Dawno na blogu nie gościło nic historycznego, może czas więc na powrót amerykańskiej milicji z czasów wojny o niepodległość USA. Figurka to - ponownie - jeden z wzorów milicjantów stanów północnych produkcji braci Perrych. Jako że jestem bezpośrednio po malowaniu starych figurek produkcji Citadel, mogę napisać w zasadzie jedno. Wstyd, panowie bracia, wstyd. Jakość odlewu, a miejscami i rzeźby tego milicjanta, jest parę klas niżej od wzorów Citadel sprzed jakichś dziesięciu lat. Ręce, po prostu, opadają.
Żeby nie pozostawić jednak tak negatywnego wrażenia, przyznam się, że malując tą figurkę dowiedziałem się czegoś nowego. To, że włosy wiązano w tak zwany harcap, to rzecz wiadoma. Widać to na sporej części figurek tej milicji. Zaciekawiło mnie jednak, jak nazywa się sam jedwabny woreczek na włosy, z tą fantazyjną kokardą na górze. I otóż, czego nie wiedziałem, nazwa ta brzmi zaiste uroczo - harbajtel. Pięknie, prawda?
It's been a long time since something historical was presented here, on my blog. So I think it is time to return to the miniatures of American militiamen from the War of Independence period. Miniature is - again - one of the Northern States militia figures released by Perry brothers. And, as I'm currently painting some older Citadel stuff too, I can write just one thing. Shame on you, Perry brothers, shame on you. Quality of the cast, and quality of the sculpt in some areas, is really, really, really poor. One can't even compare this miniature to the stuff Citadel made some ten years ago. Enough to make angels cry.
Well, as I don't want to leave just negative impression on all three readers (hello Marcin, Andrzej and Bartek) I will confess that I learned something new while painting this miniature. As we know, hair queue were popular in this era. I don't know precise English word, but Polish one is harcap (taken from German words, of course). Well, I was interested how the hair cup was described... And name of this sack is great - harbajtel:) Any English-language reader could enlighten me with proper English words, please?:)
